Colour Combo

Yes. It’s my last Craft Your Passion Challenge as a DT. I feel like I’ve learned so much about myself during these past 6 months and really, should be holding some kind of speech. But since I’m lazy, I’m only sharing my card.

This week’s theme is this fabulous colour combo (yes, I really had to add the “u”). I know, I know. At first it seems like a whole lot of fluorescent but once you get going, the colours come together pretty easy.

challenge146001 Ta-dah! The colours are slightly off. I scanned it so they don’t come across as bright as they are in real life. The rosettes are from my local craft store, the banners are actually plastic push pins and background paper is either MME or OA. Can’t remember. The tire is paper pieced to give some dimension and it looks rather fun in real life. If you are interested to take part, click HERE and you have a chance to win 5 digis from Mayzy Art.

I’m sharing this card also in following challenges:

Totally Teal

It’s time for my second to last challenge as a Design Team Member. This week’s theme is Totally Teal and and our sponsor is Saturated Canary. I chose to work with this image:

It’s called Roger That and I thought the specs makes it extra cute! My god-daughter actually has geeky frames like that so maybe I will send this card to her. For papers I used the new digi papers I bought from Pixels & Company, specifically the Scarlett-set.

Challenge146a

Ta-dah! I used plaid and woodgrain patterns. The latter is just barely visible as the image frame. The plaid was printed in two different scales. The larger is actually printed directly on the 6×6 card base! I made a small mistake with the printing so I had to cut the margins off but the slightly smaller size is not really noticeable in real life.

Challenge146b Aaargh! I just noticed that I forgot to colour in the nose bridge!!! Other techniques used are doodle stitching, regular stitching and some inking on the edges.

Challenge146c So sweet, don’t you think?

Challenge146d Over all I’m very pleased with this card. You can take part in Craft Your Passion’s Totally Teal by clicking the hyperlink. There are prizes from Saturated Canary and The Robin’s Nest to be won! I’m also sharing my talent in following challenges:

Oh Deer!

Challenge time! I forgot to post my previous DT-card but I’m double excited about this week’s one. I think I’ve mentioned several times about my digi stamp, vintage image hoarding habit? If I haven’t…Well. My name is Niina and I am an image addict.

This week were asked to use stitching, faux or real and we didn’t get a sponsored image to use so we could run wild! I decided to dive in my extensive vintage catalogue and found this gem. I’m so sorry but when I downloaded it, I forgot to re-name it according to where I got it so I can’t share the source. Totally embarrassed about it.

Anyway, here is my overly cute deer card:

ThriftyFinnDeerCard1 ThriftyFinnDeerCard2 ThriftyFinnDeerCard3 Once again I’m amazed by my obvious talent for everything visual. The pink! The chevron! The pom pom trim! Techniques used: doodle stitching, slight distressing on the edge of the chevron and the deer image is printed on heavy Canson watercolour paper. No ink and no stamping! I feel like I’ve started to move towards more design-y style, rather than entirely crafty. Something for me to ponder about. What do you think? Have you seen a shift in my style?
