Hard at work…

I’ve been working at Amalia since Thursday night. Small space filled with women crafting, direct sunlight and no air-con apparently amounts to heat stroke. Guess who got the heat stroke? Moi. Yours truly. Yesterday was pure hell, I can’t remember when I last felt like that.

No, actually I do remember. 2009 after Madonna- concert when I collapsed and had to be rushed to ER where I spent the entire night. The ambulance crew thought I was drunk and kept shouting at me, trying to coax a response. Yes, that is what you do to a person who has collapsed because of dehydration and has no voice due to frantic Madonna! Madonna! Madonna!- chanting. Eventually they believed my sister who told them that I haven’t drunk anything.

Back to present. Good news is that this morning Mira found a switch. And that switch is for the air conditioning. Did I tell you she’s been at this address for a year?

See. I’m not the only slow person around!

My name is Spielberg, Niina Spielberg.

Yesterday was a day filled with tears and teeth gnashing. I tried to edit a video for Amalia and the program I used on the first one didn’t accept a file that large. Then I tried to download various video editors (free ones) and I couldn’t make sense any of them. I know what you are thinking right now. “Of course you can’t expect to know how to use them instantly”. Yea but no but yea but, one should be able to see instantly where to start! Then I tried iMovie on my Mac. More tears and cursing and general seeing redness. Whaaa! Why does this stupid thing say unknown file format! Whaa! Whaa! Whaa! Yeah. Niina. How about using IMPORT!?!

Somehow things started working after that. Who knew!?

So here’s the video. It’s a How-To: Paper Buttons

What I did last weekend…

Well, not that album in the picture but tons anyway. This year started very badly.     U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-Y badly. Nearly every day from 1st of January  till sometime in March seemed worse than the day before. I had numerous conversations about this with my friend Niko that how can this be possible? It wasn’t just me. Things were going wrong for a lot of people.

In March I stumbled upon Amalia- shop and I’ve gotten more and more deeply involved with Amalia. At first Mira asked me to take pics of her crafty workshops, then she asked ME to become one  Amalia’s Crafters and this weekend I was hosting a special online sales in Amalia- blog! Mira and I have quickly become friends and co-workers and entrepreneurs. Last weekend with special opening hours, a crafters market and the blog shop was a real trial by fire for us and we survived! I’m still tired from all that standing up, talking and selling but the feeling of succeeding in something is the best. Honestly, even small successes can make you feel like you can kick some serious butt.

Speaking of butt…My local community center is starting to offer Zumba- classes. Starting this week for 3 euros per session. My booty is going to get whole lotta smaller this summer.

Till tomorrow…

Announcement!

The craft shop I fell in love with has asked me to be one of their Official Crafters! Yay! Mira actually asked me a few weeks back but I didn’t want to tell you until I have something finished to post. Here’s a peek of papers I used…

Can I do the Fat Monica- dance now?
