Colour Combo

Yes. It’s my last Craft Your Passion Challenge as a DT. I feel like I’ve learned so much about myself during these past 6 months and really, should be holding some kind of speech. But since I’m lazy, I’m only sharing my card.

This week’s theme is this fabulous colour combo (yes, I really had to add the “u”). I know, I know. At first it seems like a whole lot of fluorescent but once you get going, the colours come together pretty easy.

challenge146001 Ta-dah! The colours are slightly off. I scanned it so they don’t come across as bright as they are in real life. The rosettes are from my local craft store, the banners are actually plastic push pins and background paper is either MME or OA. Can’t remember. The tire is paper pieced to give some dimension and it looks rather fun in real life. If you are interested to take part, click HERE and you have a chance to win 5 digis from Mayzy Art.

I’m sharing this card also in following challenges:

Make It Monday: #125 with Meljens Designs
Paper Playtime: Challenge #2- Use Some Brown

Totally Teal

It’s time for my second to last challenge as a Design Team Member. This week’s theme is Totally Teal and and our sponsor is Saturated Canary. I chose to work with this image:

It’s called Roger That and I thought the specs makes it extra cute! My god-daughter actually has geeky frames like that so maybe I will send this card to her. For papers I used the new digi papers I bought from Pixels & Company, specifically the Scarlett-set.

Challenge146a

Ta-dah! I used plaid and woodgrain patterns. The latter is just barely visible as the image frame. The plaid was printed in two different scales. The larger is actually printed directly on the 6×6 card base! I made a small mistake with the printing so I had to cut the margins off but the slightly smaller size is not really noticeable in real life.

Challenge146b Aaargh! I just noticed that I forgot to colour in the nose bridge!!! Other techniques used are doodle stitching, regular stitching and some inking on the edges.

Challenge146c So sweet, don’t you think?

Challenge146d Over all I’m very pleased with this card. You can take part in Craft Your Passion’s Totally Teal by clicking the hyperlink. There are prizes from Saturated Canary and The Robin’s Nest to be won! I’m also sharing my talent in following challenges:

Gone Country. Or Sarcastic.

Challenge time! This week our theme is Gone Country and we are sponsored by DRS Designs and Doodle Pantry. My image is from DSR. I chose this buck bust with an intention to make a kitschy, vintage style card but then something happened…

Namely, Pinterest.

I have board called Quotes where, unlike the name suggests, I have pinned tons of those super funny Someecards. Most of them very rude and NSFW but there are some family friendly ones there too. (Note that I’m using the words family friendly very liberally here). Anyhoo, when I kept looking at the image I chose, I realised its facial expression is very laconic. Perfect for some friendly sarcasm don’t you think?

So what is girl to do? First I had to hunt down the font Someecards use. It’s Gill Sans Light and you can find it HERE if you don’t have it already. Then I had to find some witty sentences to print on my card. I found quite a few and in the end, I settled for…

challenge145001 I printed the text and the image on some heavyweight paper and the I layered them with another layer of the background paper to give a subtle pop. I added white doodle stitching and them some glitter brads in the corners. I believe I managed to combine country and hipsterism by using plaid rather masterfully. But wait! This is not all. After I finished this card, it seemed so lonely and begged to be part of a set so I made two more!

challenge145002 Sometimes my friends really do that. Or simply are the cause of the medication. Really, they are.

challenge145003 Have there ever been truer words said? Now it’s your turn to go country and link your work up in HERE. I’m also sharing my set of cards in following challenges:

Vintage Or Shabby Chic

It’s challenge time! I got very excited when I found out we’d be getting sponsor images from Sugar Kissed Cottage. They are a mother/daughter team whose blog Two Crazy Crafters I’ve been following for quite long and who design these cutest vintage inspired stamps. Here’s the one I used:

Sugar Kissed Cottage, Puppy, Vintage, digital stamp

Puppy- Digital stamp by Sugar Kissed Cottage

Since I’ve been their fan for ever, I’d already designed several cards in my head using their images so putting this card together was quick. Since Valentine Day is coming around soon, I chose pink as my main colour. I have a feeling I need to send this card to a certain 4-year old, pink loving Parisian…

Alter It!

I’m so sad. Christmas is over and there are no leftovers left to eat. *insert a sad puppy face here* There’s some consolation in this week’s Craft Your Passion challenge where we were asked to alter something and I used this opportunity to make a Christmas present! Yes, my friends. I made something to someone I care about!

There was just one problem. I forgot to photograph my altered item for the challenge before I gave it away so I had no pictures to post on the challenge blog. To have something to share, I altered another box. For me:

Challenge142a I’m storing my paper scraps in there now. Pretty cute, huh? That trim is real vintage and I’ve been hoarding it for ages. I think this is the first time I’m actually using some of it. And speaking of vintage…

I now have pictures of the first box I made. My friend Niko, loves vintage and glamour so I used fab papers by Graphic 45 to pimp a box for him. I called him on the morning of Christmas Eve and asked/told him to take pics for me and although I had to remind him today to mail the said pics to me, he came through admirably. Pics of before opening the present and after. He is so smart if you give him instructions. Repeatedly. And say them  very loudly. (No. We never make fun of each other. At. All. Or point out and laugh when we do something embarrasing. Ever. This is totally an adult, functional relationship that we have over here).

I’m linking up Niko’s vintage box in these challenges:
