At first I thought I’d have to show another photo of Paris but at the last minute I found a folder titled “Graffiti Pics”. Urban art in Helsinki! That must have killed the planners.
I took these pics last summer. A building site was surrounded by these walls and all of them had been decorated. This one I called Rainbow Brain Vomit.
This one I re-named The Lace Lady. I think if you squint, you can read the artist’s name.
This one is a detail from the piece “Hug the Boogey-Man”.
And these are the Cool Cats 5 Peace. You can find other photos for this week’s challenge here.

Love it! True art, even if it’s different!
Very unusual urban art. I love that boogey-man.
That’s my favourite too!
More art, less advertisements!
Hear, hear!
I love this kind of art!
Street art is much different than vandalism and “tagging” as we call it here. My son (now 31) is an accomplished and very talented street artist… but he usually works under contract by a business owner who wants his outside walls decorated with “urban art”. He also paints street-side trash containers and works on what he calls “legal walls” where he has permission to paint. I see what is in your photographs as street art… but the key is whether they had permission to paint or not. Regardless… it is still part of the urban landscape in most every city. I’m glad you photographed it.
It such a pity that over here the legal walls are few and far between. Helsinki is very static city and legal graffitis here and there would create more dynamic feel which in turn would help to change people to do things more. A big win-win in my opinion.
Cool photos.
